Ardistan's Invasion and the Tragic Loss of President Kotenko

/

February 7th, 2024On the evening of February 3, 2024, the Grozovian military held a parade arranged by President Leonid Kotenko to honor the brave soldiers of the 1 Lybor Combined Rifles Division, specifically the 9th Motorized. The 9th became local legends in their fight against the insurgency known as the GPR (Grozovian People’s Republic) and how they conducted themselves both on and off the front.

With their remarkable track record, the President wished to assign them the honor of becoming the first “Guards” regiment within the Grozovian Armed Forces. This title and honor dates back centuries, most recently used in the Soviet Military formations to denominate elite regiments of troops who have received better training or have shown exemplary service. During the ceremony, President Kotenko addressed both the men of the 9th and the nation of Grozovia, speaking on how the small Slavic nation has gone through hell and back and will rise again to a better and brighter future.

This admirable sentiment was ended swiftly by several rounds coming from a concealed sniper position where they narrowly missed the President. With chaos ensuing, President Kotenko ushered by the Interior Ministry guards present to his evacuation helicopter attempted to escape. However, as the aircraft rose, thunderous noises were heard coming from a similar direction of the sniper shots as both the service members and civilians alike saw in horror as a guided anti-air missile hit and detonated Kotenko’s helicopter sending it down to Earth as a burning pile of metal.

You may ask, who could have done this egregious act that surely would lead to armed conflict? That answer was given to us mere minutes after the helicopter crashed back down to the surface as Ardistani jets and transport helicopters flew in payloads and paratroopers into the city of Pecher signaling to the people on the ground that danger was imminent.

In a state press release conducted several hours after the operation began, Ardistani President Nikhala el-Rehman stated;

“For too long have our brothers and sisters of the faith been persecuted and treated as second-class citizens. The Islamic Republic of Ardistan has begun conducting a special military operation within Grozovia to end the unjust persecution of the Arabic minorities present within this haven of National Socialists and evil men”.

President el-Rehman would go on to continue his speech pointing out that border incidents with Grozovia and the treatment of Ardistanis were the primary reasons for the sudden military invasion of Grozovia and that the only way the war would end if the Grozovian government signed a hefty peace treaty that would cede the entire Pecher region and sections of the Lybor, and Zagorsk provinces to Ardistan as a form of reparations to the supposed ill-treatment to minorities.
